I’ve gotten used to it. I talk to my grandparents often, so we haven’t lost communication, but yes, my family here does worry a bit. They’re safe as far as we know, but you just never know sometimes.

I did in 1999 to move back. But things had gotten so bad my parents decided to return to Miami. The way people live there right now is in complete fear. It’s sad cuz I have all my extended family there, but living here is much safer. I do want to return, but for visits.

Back then Chavez was just starting to gain a lot of momentum politically. The last straw for my parents was when they were driving they got held at gunpoint by the military because there were so many riots going on.
Needless to say I don’t remember that, I was too young, but I don’t think I want to anyway.
But the country is beautiful! haha
